Don’t just turn off on earth hour
In response to the global Earth hour campaign, at HELUKABEL Vietnam, we have implemented the "DON'T JUST TURN OFF ON EARTH HOUR" program. The program took place at the southern office of HELUKABEL Vietnam company with the form of power off for 2 hours/day (12-2 PM) from February 25 to March 25, 2023.
Earth Hour is an annual international event initiated by the World Wildlife Fund. The program encourages households and businesses to turn off lights and non-essential electrical equipment within 60 minutes, from 8:30 to 9:30 pm (local time) on the last Saturday of March every year. In 2007, the campaign first took place in Sydney (Australia) with the participation of about 2 million people. The results of the first campaign in Australia have resulted in a 10.2% reduction in electricity production, equivalent to 24.86 tons of CO2 for the environment.
Thanks to the media and the response of the community, the number of people participating in the Earth Hour campaign in 2008 increased to 50 million people, and in 2009 more than 1 billion people, in more than 4000 cities. The number of countries participating in this campaign has also increased significantly, and over 126 countries at present.
In particular, Vietnam is also one of the countries participating in the Earth Hour campaign regularly every year. Estimated earth hour in 2020, Vietnam has saved 436,000 kWh, equivalent to 34,928 USD. Thus, from 2010 to 2020, Earth Hour in Vietnam saved an average of about 466,636 kWh per year, equivalent to about 6 billion VND (272,266 USD).
Understanding what the Earth Hour campaign means to our environment, at HELUKABEL, we launched the program “DON’T JUST TURN OFF ON EARTH HOUR”. The program was held at the southern office in the form of power off 2 hours/day, 12-2 PM from February 25 to March 25, 2023, to contribute to protecting the environment from simple actions.
Our program was launched with a positive response from our employees. At the same time, some of our colleagues at subsidiaries in other countries such as Romania and Germany also greatly help in conveying the message “DON’T JUST TURN OFF ON EARTH HOUR” to the community.
Let's see the results of 2 hours of power off in one month at HELUKABEL Vietnam on March 25.
